WILLIAM CROWE
August 19, 1923 - July 17, 2014
A strong, supporting limb has fallen from our family tree.
We keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me”.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest,
remembering all, how I truly was blessed.

In his 91st year, William (Bill) Crowe passed away peacefully in St. Joseph's Hospice on Thursday, July 17, 2014. We have lost a husband, father, grandfather, but more importantly we have lost a great friend.
Bill was born in Fort William on August 19, 1923 to Robert and Margaret Crowe. He was one of six siblings and he remained close to his brothers, sisters and their families throughout his life. A veteran of World War II, he served throughout Europe. Following his service Bill worked on the Kam Power Line, at the Canada Car Company, and then later at the Northern and Central Gas Company and here he remained for twenty-seven years until he retired.
When Bill returned home from his war service, he saw a picture of a co-worker's sister and he was eager to meet the young woman who was serving the war effort in Ottawa. A hesitant Margaret Crockett finally agreed to meet the persistent young vet on her return home from Ottawa and, following a whirlwind courtship, they married a few months later. With Margaret, Bill established a home on West Christina Street where they lived more than fifty years and here they reared two daughters. During his retirement, many people knew Bill as one half of “the lovely couple” that for countless years volunteered together for local charity events. With Marg, Bill had an active social life that involved several card groups and with these friends they travelled widely and had decades of fun.
Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret (Crockett). Also surviving are: his daughters Barbara Crowe and Devona Crowe, granddaughter Kate Burns, great grandchildren Noah and Mackenzie Burns-Ahtila and beloved son-in-law Richard Wilson, who shall carry Bill's mantle of the man with all those woman. Surviving also are: sister Susan Little, brothers Robert (Marjorie), Pat (Margaret); brother-in-law Jack (Joan) Crockett, sister-in-law Devona Beauregard, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Robert and Margaret Crowe; parents-in-law James and Devona Crockett: brother Jack Crowe and sister Margaret Vignuda; brothers-in-law Vernon Little, George Beauregard Sr., Peter Vignuda, Don Crockett and Jim Crockett; sisters-in-law Eleanor Crowe, Peggy Crowe, and Linda Crockett, son-in-law Don Kuzik and nephew George Beauregard Jr.
Funeral services for the late Bill Crowe will be held on Monday, July 21 at 1:00PM in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James Street. The service will be officiated by Rev. Ed Long and a private interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held one prior to service time.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Bill to the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church - Building Restoration Fund, The Underground Gym or Thunder Bay City Pro-Kids.
